Caribbean Garden and Market

Boat Jungle Cruise

The long weekend weather was not really goo. Cloudy and Raining made us decided to abbanddon our initial plan. I have suggested we should at least go out somewhere or it will be such a waste not doing something during the long weekend. Then we decided to go to Caribbean Garden and Market at Scoresby

Boat

I came across this place when one of my patient mentioned it to me and suggested that I should go and visit this place. Well indeed, I did and went to this place with Zainah and her family last Sunday. The reason why on Sunday because it open only on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the first two days during working day which is impossible to go.

Chair Lift ride

It is a huge place, 100 hectare. It has a big lake, big park, playground, picnic and BBQ place every where. And to make it more interesting the Caribbean Garden also has, boat riding, chair lift riding and train riding.

We are planning to come again next time for picnic and BBQ

Dight's Falls, Melbourne

Dight's Falls

Been to Dight's Falls, kind of man made water falls. Located downstream of the junction of the Yarra River with Merri Creek. At this point the river narrows and is constricted between 800,000 year old volcanic.

Dight's Falls

History of Dight's Falls:

In the 1840s, an artificial weir was built on the natural bar of basalt boulders to provide water to the "Ceres" flour mill, one of the first in Victoria. Situated by the Yarra River in Collingwood is the industrial relic known locally as "Dight's Mill", one of Melbourne's oldest and most significant industrial sites. In the early 1840's John Dight established Melbourne's first water-powered flour mill on the site. In 1888 'Yarra Falls Roller Mills' built a water-turbine powered mill, which was the largest and most sophisticated of the thirty two water powered mills built in Victoria before 1900.

Yarra Bend Park, Melbourne

It was chilly morning Saturday, 7C but sunny. We had planned the day before to go to Yarra Bend Park for morning walk and picture shooting session.

Yarra Bend River trail

I met Zul at Flinders Street Station at 8.00 am, had breakfast and later we took 8.10 am train to Clifton Hill.

Yarra Bend River trail

I have been here twice but never tried the walking trail near the river before. Off we go from Clifton Hill Train Station to our destination, Yarra Bend Boathouse.

Yarra Bend River trail

Nice walk and a nice walking trail. Past through the Park with nice scenery.

Yarra Bend River trail

At one stage, we could see Melbourne CBD high raised building. It was so picturesque.

Yarra Bend River trail

Later we started to walk using the river trail, The Yarra Bend river trail.

Yarra Bend River trail

Seen wild life, wild flowers and wild fruits........

Yarra Bend River trail

Still could see autumn scenery...the colorful leaves.

Yarra Bend Boathouse

The distance from clifton hill train station to Yarra Bend Boathouse is about 5 km by using the walking trail. Since we stop frequently to take pictures, it took us 2 hours to reach the boathouse.

Kanes Bridge

An old bridge, the Kanes Bridge connecting the two side of the river.

Yarra Bend Boathouse

Spend sometime there, you could have a nice cup of coffee at the boathouse but we didn't do that and straight away walking our way to another place.....

Altona Beach

There is a nice walking track/trail : the foreshore trail. A nice jogging spot along the esplanade.

It was windy today.

Harbour Town, Melbourne

Just recently open new town by the Premier. Harbour Town.

Few factory outlet shops already started their business. Interestingly quite cheap though.

Still not many people around but wait till the next weekend where they will have a carnival and the opening of Southern Star.

Harbour Town just near by the Dockland.

Had a break after a long walk from city at The Coffee Club

As usual my Cappuchino

and a piece of Mud chocolate cake.
