Australia Day 2009

Happy Australia Day for all Australian, 26 January 2009

Parade in the city, celebrating the Australia Day.

Australian Open Tennis Championships 2009 - A Day at AO 2009

I reached the Australian Open Tennis area at 9.00am just before the gate open at 9.30 am. I have decided to buy Ground Pass ticket. It cost me AUD 29. Thought of buying Rod Laver Arena ticket, bit expensive though may be next year.

It a nice warm day, predicting 26C today. I would prefer to come early, get back home and come back again later in the evening.

My first experience coming to the event, pretty good. Had my morning 'tea' in the garden in front of Rod Laver arena. Nice.

A bit upset though, I can't use my 70-300 mm lens. They only allowed lens maximum of 200mm unless if I am a journalist. Hmm. Anyway, fortunately I brought my lens extension, it helps me to take distance picture.

One of my friend said, If I am lucky I could meet the tennis player while they are practicing. Try to search for one but unsuccessful.

I have decided to watch a match at Margaret Court Arena.

Remember the Time

Sunday Morning, my relaxing moment at home before start going out. While I was looking through all the pictures I took when I was in London, I found these pictures, while I am at Mike Irani's house.

My last two days in London, had dinner with Dr. Mike Irani and the family in their backyard. Sue, Mike Irani's wife cook nice meal. Since I was around she cooked vegetarian food and one of the dishes was prepared by their eldest son. Very good indeed. I asked him if he would like to be a chef someday. Mmmm not sure and smile.

Mike is one of the medical board members for World Weightlifting Association. Last Olympic Games in Beijing, I saw him on TV while his helping the injured weight lifter. I teased him if I could go to some of the world event and be part of the team. He said why not. :-) . That good. Looking forward for that.

On my final day in London, he reminded me again and again please come to London to do research and working in his department in the hospital for at least a year. I told him I will think of it, provided with a good deal. :-)

Hot Summer Night

It was extremely hot yesterday in Melbourne CBD with temperature hit 38C and the hot weather even continue until midnight. The temperature still around early 30s at midnight as I was told. It was reported as one of the hottest night in Melbourne history. Most of the Cardiology staff complaint they couldn't sleep last night because of the hot weather. But not me, still able to sleep and get up early as usual. :-)

Botanical View

Botanical View

Nice weather with nice clear sky today. Went to meet Adam at Camera House. It has been a while I have not been to Camera House. Brought my camera along and had my camera sensor with the lenses clean by Adam. Planning to get new 'toys' this year. I told Adam about my plan. He promise to help me and give good bargain. Well, will see how it goes. It for my future investment too.

Then I went to botanical garden and did one lap of fast walk at noon. Completed one lap in 40 minutes with added some more 10 000 steps for today. Rest, enjoying the view and weather and did some reading while lying under the tree. It was absolutely wonderful.... Will do it again next week.

Melbourne New Year's Eve Firework

Came as early as possible to find a nice spot. Met Zul at Flinders street station. Went to buy pizza first for dinner.

We decided to watch the firework from South gate.

So many people came to the city. An approximately half a million came, Melbourne was crowded.

The firework show not just here at Yarra River but also 2 other places, Waterfront and Harbour Town. It was spectacular show.
