Bridger Over Trouble Water

When youre down and out,
When youre on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
Ill take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,

Dight's Falls, Melbourne

Dight's Falls

Been to Dight's Falls, kind of man made water falls. Located downstream of the junction of the Yarra River with Merri Creek. At this point the river narrows and is constricted between 800,000 year old volcanic.

Dight's Falls

History of Dight's Falls:

In the 1840s, an artificial weir was built on the natural bar of basalt boulders to provide water to the "Ceres" flour mill, one of the first in Victoria. Situated by the Yarra River in Collingwood is the industrial relic known locally as "Dight's Mill", one of Melbourne's oldest and most significant industrial sites. In the early 1840's John Dight established Melbourne's first water-powered flour mill on the site. In 1888 'Yarra Falls Roller Mills' built a water-turbine powered mill, which was the largest and most sophisticated of the thirty two water powered mills built in Victoria before 1900.

Yarra Bend Park, Melbourne

It was chilly morning Saturday, 7C but sunny. We had planned the day before to go to Yarra Bend Park for morning walk and picture shooting session.

Yarra Bend River trail

I met Zul at Flinders Street Station at 8.00 am, had breakfast and later we took 8.10 am train to Clifton Hill.

Yarra Bend River trail

I have been here twice but never tried the walking trail near the river before. Off we go from Clifton Hill Train Station to our destination, Yarra Bend Boathouse.

Yarra Bend River trail

Nice walk and a nice walking trail. Past through the Park with nice scenery.

Yarra Bend River trail

At one stage, we could see Melbourne CBD high raised building. It was so picturesque.

Yarra Bend River trail

Later we started to walk using the river trail, The Yarra Bend river trail.

Yarra Bend River trail

Seen wild life, wild flowers and wild fruits........

Yarra Bend River trail

Still could see autumn scenery...the colorful leaves.

Yarra Bend Boathouse

The distance from clifton hill train station to Yarra Bend Boathouse is about 5 km by using the walking trail. Since we stop frequently to take pictures, it took us 2 hours to reach the boathouse.

Kanes Bridge

An old bridge, the Kanes Bridge connecting the two side of the river.

Yarra Bend Boathouse

Spend sometime there, you could have a nice cup of coffee at the boathouse but we didn't do that and straight away walking our way to another place.....

Master Chef show

I have been watching first season of Master Chef Australia since it started few weeks back. A reality show for amature 'chef' to become a Master Chef. Since I love cooking, I love the show very much. It different from other kind of reality show.

I have few favorite contestant in the top 20 finalist. My most favorite of them all is Julia which from the beginning of the show hoping she will be one of the top finalist. This week she exile for the invention test and made herself eligible to compete with this week celebrity chef. I like her personality calm, confident and down to earth. She won the challenge and beat the celebrity chef. Well done. Will see her on the final day of the show in 2 month time and won the first season of Master Chef Australia. All the best Julia.

Have 'LAKSAM' with staff.

I have finally accomplished to bring home-cook food to Cardiology Department. I have told them ( Deidre, Jane and Jackie ) last Friday that I am going to bring some food on Monday. Decided to make Laksam. Been obsess with it for the last few weeks only able to full fill this 'desire' last Sunday.
I made the fish sauce which is not too spicy or even hot. Then made the pasta/noodle using rice flour mixed with a little bit of plain flour add water and salt. Finally, a successful first attempt. Anyway I have made 'Laksa Johor' many times so it shouldn't be any problem making it. Less complicated as when you make 'Laksa Johor'.

I brought the 'Laksam' to Cardiology Department and have it with Deidre, Jackie, Jane and Carol-Lynn Bond. They like it very much even ask me the recipe.

Ride to the top of the World

We have decided (me and Adelina) on Sunday to ride a bike as part of healthy life style program for Adel. I had planned for us to ride until 'the highest' peak in Mooney Valley. It was drizzling initially, but later turn out to be a little bit sunny when we reach the top. Nice ride cool breeze air. Tough ride, Adelina complaining exhausted when climbing up the hill. :-). At some stages we stop and walk with our bike. Nice view from top of the hill and we could see Melbourne CBD from a distance. We later stop at few parks and play ground on our way back home. Nice place to have picnic too. May be one day might organise picnic at one of these places.

Elina and friends

Elina (Prof. Zaliha's daughter) just graduated from UM medical school. Came to Australia for a holiday with her friends. They have been to Brisbane, Sydney, touring New Zealand and last destination is Melbourne. I almost forgot that she's coming to Melbourne until on Wednesday she text message me that she's now in Geelong and staying at her aunt place. Trying to sought out when is the best time for them to come over to my place. Then, decided her to come over to my house for lunch on Saturday, their last day in Melbourne.
I fetch them at New Market station and brought them back to the house. I had prepared lunch which I have made, 'Salmon Asam Pedas', 'Bunchis goreng' and 'Ayam Black Paper'. Spent about more than an hour listen to their stories. Interesting. They really enjoyed their visit.
I finally send them back to the station and wishing them all the best for a new chapter of their life, working as a doctor.

Never ending link

It looks like a never ending road
Keeps on walking and walking and walking........
The road is connected to The Windsor Castle rear entrance.
It is also some kind of a Botanical Garden not prohibited garden though, where you were a allowed to pass through.
Nice scenery from the Castle I suppose...

Windsor Castle, UK

Windsor Castle, in Windsor in the English county of Berkshire, is the largest inhabited castle in the world and, dating back to the time of William the Conqueror, is the oldest in continuous occupation. The castle's floor area is approximately 484,000 square feet (44,965 square metres).

I took a train from Cheswick to Windsor. It took about 3o - 35 minutes to reach Windsor.

Still early when I reached there. The the crowd was building up. So many tourist came and want to witness the change of guard ceremony.

It was a huge area. Windsor itself a nice small town. Beautiful and historical.

while waiting for the ceremony, I walked around and explored Windsor.

and found the back entrance to the castle.

Emerald Lake Park, Victoria

We went to Emerald Lake Park last Sunday. It was a nice weather that day, sunny with bit of clouds but chilly though. We have planned to have picnic at this place 3 weeks ago since Zainah and her family has been to Emerald Lake Park and convinced me and Zul to come here.

It is about 44 km south-east from Melbourne's central business district or about 40 minutes from Zainah's place.

Huzaizi pick fetch us from the train station. We started to move at about 11 am.

It is a nice place. Colorful leaves, lake, places for BBQ and picnic.

Zainah brought most of the food as usual while me and Zul bought some from Coles.

After we had our lunch, we started moving and explore the area.

By the way, the famous Puffing Billy railway station, the Lake side station is just near by not far from our picnic spot. We could hear few times arrival of the train to the station.
Candid pictures

Took so many Ashraf (our tengku muda , :-) ) pictures. This one of those, he was so so hungry and didn't realise I took his picture while his having his lunch.

Zainah and the family.

Could find some of the wildlife at Emerald Lake Park. The cockatoo resting on a tree branch.
