Healesville Sanctuary; A wildlife sanctuary experience

Healesville Sanctuary
Badger Creek Road , Healesville
Victoria 3777

65 km from Melbourne.
Other than using your own transport, you can get there by public transport.
Me and Zul went to Healesville Sanctuary 3 weeks ago. Much cheaper to take public transport during weekend and only cost us 3 dollars each (weekend ticket).

We took train from Flinders street station going towards Lilydale, then from Lilydale station take a designated bus just out side the station to Healesville Sanctuary. In total the journey took almost 2 hours to reach the place.

Nice place to come over for family and have picnic. Lots and lots of activities for kids too.

Some of the animals in the sanctuary.

Koala

Birds of Prey

Lyrebirds

Dingo

The Healesville Sanctuary is a total different Zoo experience compare to Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range Zoo. Should go and have a look. Kid will love it.

Cooking Lesson

I had cooking teaching lesson yesterday. One of my friends, a Samoan who want to learn how to cook Malaysian Cuisines. He likes cooking, no doubt each time when we have a discussion of food he will definitely asked the ingredients.

I had prepared all the ingredients before hand. He helped me with stirring while I add on all the ingredients in the wok. I showed and 'teaches' him 3 dishes. Rice noodle curry laksa, Tiger Prawn 'masak lemak' and 'Tempe' (Tempeh) fried with soy sauce. He never knew Tempe before, which is a fermented soy.

Once everything ready we had our lunch. He really enjoying all the meals. No voice heard but munching all the way and add on few time. :-)

New Place in Town

(Salmon Sandwich)

A new shopping place in town. Hmm shopping, ;-)
New DFO (Direct Factory Outlet) location which is at the Wharf.
Big place. Since they just open this place, few shops offer good bargain.

I have no choice, I need to buy new shoes. The one that I have been using it had worn off. Even one of my patient ask me I should get a new shoe. How embarrassing.

Bit difficult to buy shoes here since most of working shoes has pig skin as lining especially the cheaper shoes.

Roti Jala from Melbourne

Suddenly I feels like to have 'Roti Jala' today for lunch. Since I don't have the appropriate utensil for making the 'Roti Jala', I have to improvise. Inspired by Poh from Master Chef Australia, I used small milk box to make the 'Roti Jala'.

Good experiment, and it work. ;-)

A day of Gifts...

On Friday, one of my patients Donald, brought a broad beans for me from his veg garden. Then later in the afternoon Gregory as promised made for me Masamas Curry (a Thai curry) which he had the recipe from his Thai friend. He called me a day earlier to ask me how hot I want the curry. I told him 5 stars hot. :-), instead it not hot enough, just hot. He was a bit upset. Then I told him the curry was really nice, rich and taste really yummy. He now knows at least my level of hot. He will make again and make it much much hot. :-)

Looking forward for Weekend

Finally last day of the week, Friday. Yeah..After all the hard work through out the week. Wake up really early in the morning and came back home late and with all those stressful moment, now I can have a relaxing time, mind body and soul and get ready for next week. Had a great day today, both of the students who helping me in the gym came on time, I had plenty of time in the clinic to recruit more participants. Fortunately I had 2 possible candidate today and going to meet them in the gym next week. Nice. Feel so so grateful. Finish all my work early and get off to CBD. I am looking forward for a nice rest this weekend.

Appreciation

At least somebody made my day today. After a disappointed day yesterday, today somebody really had almost made me 'cry' not because of some sad news, but praised and appreciate my work. My new patient whom committed with my study, his 84 years old (frankly he didn't look as if he is in his 80's I should say he look more in his 60's) came to his second exercise session today. During the exercise session, he always respect me and praised so much with my research work and pray that I will get the degree as a reward of my good deed. I was flattered and almost drop to tears but I compose myself not to do so. He even told his private cardiologist 2 days ago after his first session with me that I have done a good job. I don't know what to say just said thank you.

Even though I was not fully recovered totally after yesterday incident ,at least there is something to cheer me up.

I am nobody

I was really upset, bit sad and my mood has dropped. Like a glass broken into a small pieces all over the floor. I felt like I am a beggar or something. Don't know how to describe my feeling, only Allah knows. One after another. Pray to Allah to give me patience and try to finish the research as soon as possible and get out from this Hospital.

Ramadan gathering with Cinnamon Rolls

I decided to bring Cinnamon Rolls for Ramadan gathering at Adel's house yesterday. I took me more than two hours to get it done. From kneading the Dough and until it ready to serve. I didn't make the icing tough because it will be too sweet. The rolls itself is already sweet by adding the icing it will be too much (I did modified slightly from the original recipe) . Smells nice and yummy. Jo told me she got a Cinnamon Rolls recipe without using any sugar. Hope Jo wouldn't mind to give me the recipe, ;-)

So so long....

Gosh...I think, I didn't update my blog for more than a month. Received lots of emails and ask, 'hey when are you going to update your blog??!!'. :-) .
Thanks guys, it means that there are somebody out there still visiting the blog.

Don't know why, August - September I was not in the mood in writing stories.....Think I did the same thing last year. Anyway way I am back...

I was really hook up with my work intensely for the last one month. Got up early and catch 5.12 am train and gone back home by 7pm from Austin. Definitely I was really drained out when I got home and need to go to bed early. while my weekend is my resting day, recovering.

Anyway last Friday for the first time during Ramadan I can reach the city early and had dinner (breaking fast) on time. (Most of the time either I break my fast at Austin or on the train). Alhamdulillah I had been fasting till now, the weather and fasting duration here in Melbourne make the whole day fasting much easier and still active.
