Elizabeth Plaza Lane
Saturday
4.00 pm
Nazim's called me at about 2.30 pm, informed that his already at footscray with the rest. Met them at the Footcsray Square, did some shopping and Adam's had his hair cut. Then we took train to the City and met Nazim's BEST FRIEND at Lord of the Fries (French Fries Stall). There we walk our way in the city, while waiting for breaking fast time in 2 hours. Stoped at Elizabeth Plaza Lane, thought wanted to buy some home made candy but the shop already closed. Well need to come back again next time.
Psychedelic Didgeridoo
Saturday
4.30 pm
On our way to Lazzat Restaurant, we passed by Burke Street. Since Adam wanted to have a rest we stop at a provided bench along the Burke Street. Then I noticed this guy playing didgeridoo.
Didgeritoo, I know the Instrument but did not know what it's called.
The didjeridu/didgeridoo is an Australian Aboriginal musical instrument endemic to the northern parts of Australia. It is an unusual instrument because a special technique called 'circular breathing' is used to play the instrument. It may sound impossible, but in 'circular breathing' air is breathed in through the nose at the same time as air is being blown out of the mouth to play the didjeridu. This technique allows a skilled didjeridu player to maintain a continuous sound on the instrument for as long as the player wants.
But this guy playing the modern didgeridoo Instrument. It was interesting and entertaining.
I enjoyed the music, mixing techno music with didgeridoo sound, an up beat dancing music. Since I do aerobics and like dancing music, I am enjoying listening to it. There were few girls dancing while listening to the music. It was really cool. He created his own music and recorded the music.
I went to meet him and bought the CD that cost me AUD 15. It is totally different kind of instrument and you can only find here in Australia.

29th September
Saturday
Saturday
6.00pm
Initially we wanted to go and have our breaking fast at Lazzat Restaurant, but after half an hour walk we were disappointed. The restaurant had been booked for a function. Mmmmm. Then we had to go back to the city to our usual Indonesian 'Es Teller 77' Restaurant. It was not a bad idea anyway since they served good food. Just wanted to go to another place since Lazzat located at Lygon street and we planned to have our dissert at our usual place immediately after that. But anyway we have to change the plan.
There were an aditional 3 person with us, Nazim's BEST FRIEND a military guy just arrived from KL attending a 4 months course at Melbourne Military Camp. He and his 2 other colleagues joining for breaking fast. When we arrived, the place was not fully occupied yet and we have the privilege to get a better sit near the window with a bigger space.
Friday Delight
28 September
I already planned to cook for breaking fast on friday, and I did. I cooked 3 dishes and an appetizer . I know that Arij (our PhD friend's) is comming. While I was cooking, she came and brought along 2 boxes of pizza and a box of spring rolls. Oh my god. So much food for breaking fast. Finally I have decided, I kept all the foods I cooked in containers. I can eat it during early morning meal. It is more practical anyway since I have practicing cooked and kept it in containes in a freezer. So for the next 2 - 3 days, I just need to re-heat the foods. It will save some of my time doing other work instead of cooking.

Integrative workshop Series
Integrative Workshop Series
Presenter: Dr Delwyn Goodrick
Presenter: Dr Delwyn Goodrick
Scheduling and Format
This three day course is designed for participants who want to strengthen their knowledge and skills in the practice of research. The course will be of interest to participants who have a basic grounding in research methods, but who seek more detailed information about the role of theory and analysis, and representation of qualitative and quantitative data.
A particular emphasis of the course is the underpinning epistemological stances that influence the conduct of research and the ways in which these stances inform decisions about validity and representation. A second emphasis is to strengthen the understanding of the role of theory in building a strong research argument.
The workshop will be interactive and participants will be expected to share their own research issues and writing. Participants will also be expected to commit to attending all three sessions.

I have registered the sessions few weeks back. But I am a bit skeptical whether should I be part of the workshop. I thought it would be so theoretical and boring session. Then I realise, I really need to get more informations and knowledge about research philosophy, methodology etc.
The day I entered the room, there I saw a gorgeous and beautiful lady with sweet smile getting ready to start the session. I was so fascinated by her. For two days, I have never missed her sessions. She was really really really...(don't know how much really i want to put) good. She is the person for Research Methodology, qualitatif, quatitative and mix qualitative and qantitave. Everybody in the workshop was really impressed with her. Slowly she explained to everybody in the workshop since the participants are so diversed, from going to start for proposal until there are few going to finish the theses. At times she will start with poem, a story or cartoons to make us think and participated in the sesion. It was really an interactive sessions. Everybody participated during the sessions, giving thier opinions and experiences to others, then later Delwyn will give further explainations. All questions she answered with everybody satisfaction. She gave examples and references just from the tip of her finger. God, I really admire her.
I made the opportunity to introduce myself and have some discussions. She acknowledged me. I have been communicating with her through email before the workshop and already mentioned to her about my research study. In the workshop she always mentioned my research study as an examples. I even gave my opinion during the session. On our last day yesterday, Delwyn ask me to show my work to everybody in the workshop. I am a bit embarrassed though, but she insisted and praised my work in front of everybody (bit shy but I am proud of myself).
Alot of issues and terminology I have never heard before, but now I am not so worried. She kept on updating us what will be the in thing for research and writing nowadays.
As for me. I learn alot and now my motivation is really high. She gave some opinions and suggestions for my work which i really appreciate it very much. I am looking forward to attend the last session next month and will show to her my writing and ask for further comments and suggestions.

Thorn among tulips
We started our journey at about 12.00 noon. We supposed to reach the tulip's festival within an hour but instead of reaching there in two hours. We were lost; accidentally we took a longer route to the place and caused us an extra one hour journey. Think of the bright side, at least we know how to get there faster.
Not too bad at all. I like the tulip's garden but the area of the garden is smaller compared to tulip's garden in Holland. There, the garden's area was really big and exciting. I might go to Holland again someday and visit thier tulip's garden.

ES TELER
I have decided to spend my friday night at Melbourne CBD. I had my breaking fast with Zul, at his place. He cooked western menu for our breaking fast. It was really nice.
I went off after 7.15pm and took a tram to Melbourne City. Friday night always look so lively, all shops and shopping centers are open until 9 pm. Just enjoying my time alone on friday night. Did some shopping then I stopped at Es Teler 77 restaurant and ask for Es Teler (Ice mix fruits drink).
Then I realise, I should spend time alone like this more often.

Fine Tuesday
Day 6 of Ramadan
It was a fine day yesterday. Warm and shinny day with maximum temperature of 22C. Still in it early spring, alot of beautiful and flowery places need to be explored.
Yesterday was not much of activity. I attended the last Academic writing session of 4, which I missed it last week. The presenter was really good, even though I was absent, I managed to catch-up most of last week discussions. I definitely will give her 5 star for evaluation. Her commitment, passion, dedication and the way she handled her audience was excellent. I hope, I could be like her when given’s talk or teaching to my audience someday. Really admire her. Finished the workshop at 3.30pm and did some work in the office until 4.30pm. Then I cycled to Adel and Nazim’s place and cooked some meals for breaking fast.

Bitternut chips
Spent sometimes in the city yesterday afternoon after came back from Austin Hospital. I am trying to find a place called 'LAGUNA', a groceries store run by an Indonesian. I heard alot about this store selling alot of asian and even Malaysian products for cooking. I finally found the place after made few calls ask for direction. Nice big grocery store, most of malaysian and indonesian stuff for cooking are here. I suddenly found dried bitternut chips, which I have missed it since comming here to melbourne. Nice to have bitternut chips during breaking fast
Direction
Signage / direction information is really important especially for those who not famaliar with the place. Hospital is not an exceptional, public area where sinages for direction are really important other than information center. Sometimes even with alot of directions signage people will still get lost, so what would happen if there are no direction signages at all. This what was happened to me.
Austin Hospital is really a nice, public friendly hospital. You will see all the signages anyway, on the wall, at any main entrance , on the lifts wall while waiting for the lifts and even it has colored pathway on the floor to show you the way to this building or that building. Really impressed, but still you might even have difficulties to find the place. Anyway the friendly staff will help and show you the way as long as you ask for it.
This is lacking at our place, at my working place or any hospitals even the directions are confusing. As a staff members sometimes I am even not sure how to get to certain places. It was an eye opener to me and a take away important ideas to bring back home. No wonder , Austin Hospital was awarded the Best Health care center for 2006 in the state of Victoria.
